My friend's mom was just diagnosed with a form of brain cancer. She has had surgery and started treatments. Many of you know that my dad had a massive stroke and just a few months later was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. So when I heard about Carrie's mom, I wanted to do something to let them know I was praying for them. What better way to do that than to send a handmade card? I am so thankful for the opportunity Stampin' Up! has given me to share my love of paper crafting with others in such a meaningful way.
Here is the front of the card I sent to her mother.
I think the black, white, and red color combo is such a classic combination. I wanted to add a little color for cheer but since the diagnosis is still new I wanted to tone it down with some low-key neutrals. The greeting is a favorite scripture of mine. It says, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." I felt like this was the perfect greeting for a card like this. In times of great suffering we often try to understand it and make sense of it somehow. The problem is that we are not God. In His infinite wisdom He has chosen the paths we all must go to fulfill His divine plan. I do not know why good people have to experience pain and suffering but I do know that God's Word promises that He will work all things out for our good. (Romans 8:28) I trust Him because He is all I have and I have learned He is all I need! I cannot imagine trying to face the things I have to go through without Him!
Here is a peak inside the card:
I love flowers. My grandmother had a HUGE garden of flowers that always perfumed the air so sweetly! I loved seeing the different colors and kinds of flowers that she had planted. She was such a great tender of the flowers. I wish I had been blessed with a green thumb, but these flowers I can give again and again with no worries of them fading away. I wanted to make Carrie's mom smile when she opened the card. It's a scary journey they have been propelled on and I wanted them to know they are not alone. I am thinking about them and praying for them and I wanted to have others shower them with cards, too. So, if you have a minute or two, won't you please create a card to let them know you are thinking of them and wishing them the best? It would mean so much to them! The address is:
