Card Shower For Nancy

Hey everyone!
My friend's mom was just diagnosed with a form of brain cancer. She has had surgery and started treatments. Many of you know that my dad had a massive stroke and just a few months later was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. So when I heard about Carrie's mom, I wanted to do something to let them know I was praying for them. What better way to do that than to send a handmade card? I am so thankful for the opportunity Stampin' Up! has given me to share my love of paper crafting with others in such a meaningful way.
Here is the front of the card I sent to her mother.
I think the black, white, and red color combo is such a classic combination. I wanted to add a little color for cheer but since the diagnosis is still new I wanted to tone it down with some low-key neutrals. The greeting is a favorite scripture of mine. It says, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." I felt like this was the perfect greeting for a card like this. In times of great suffering we often try to understand it and make sense of it somehow. The problem is that we are not God. In His infinite wisdom He has chosen the paths we all must go to fulfill His divine plan. I do not know why good people have to experience pain and suffering but I do know that God's Word promises that He will work all things out for our good. (Romans 8:28) I trust Him because He is all I have and I have learned He is all I need! I cannot imagine trying to face the things I have to go through without Him!

Here is a peak inside the card:
I love flowers. My grandmother had a HUGE garden of flowers that always perfumed the air so sweetly! I loved seeing the different colors and kinds of flowers that she had planted. She was such a great tender of the flowers. I wish I had been blessed with a green thumb, but these flowers I can give again and again with no worries of them fading away. I wanted to make Carrie's mom smile when she opened the card. It's a scary journey they have been propelled on and I wanted them to know they are not alone. I am thinking about them and praying for them and I wanted to have others shower them with cards, too. So, if you have a minute or two, won't you please create a card to let them know you are thinking of them and wishing them the best? It would mean so much to them! The address is:

Getting Organized with my Big Shot and Accessories

Hey, everyone!

My summer semester is officially over and I am so excited! I have about 3 weeks until fall semester begins and I am BUSY getting things organized in my stamping/scrapping/craft room...not sure what to call it! I do a lot of different projects in that space. Hmmm... Any suggestions?

Anyway, I have been working hard to get things put up, labeled, and stored in all of my cute containers I have purchased. It is coming along really well (for the little amounts of time I have been able to spend on it). Today is my last day working at the hospital, so now I should have plenty of time to get things done!

I have a video tutorial to share with you on how I have organized my Big Shot and the dies I purchased from Stampin' Up!. It seems like we accumulate so many accessories with a tool like the Big Shot and it is easy to get overwhelmed with where to neatly store these items and still be able to access them quickly when needed! Do you ever have that issue? So, I hope you enjoy this video tutorial!!

Thanks for watching! Have a great day!

Big changes for me...and a Stampin' Up! catalog giveaway!

Hey, everyone!

Look what I have!!!!

It is the brand new 2013-2014 annual catalog from Stampin' Up! and several are being mailed this coming week. Do you have yours? If not, let me know and I will make sure you get one! There are so many fun new things to try like clay and molds, Washi tape, beautiful new In-Colors as well as the new Color Refresh. I love the embossing folders we carry and there are many more dies available for use with our Big Shot.

I had a big box arrive a couple days ago...

...haven't had a chance to play yet but I will very soon! I have two more classes, one paper, one set of questions, and one final exam to take and I will be officially done with my summer class. Yay!! I also put my two week notice in at work. I have decided (after a lot of thinking, planning, wondering, and praying) to focus more on my family and classes since I begin the nursing program this fall. I will miss some of my new friends at the hospital and I really enjoyed my job but working swing shift is too hard to do when I will be in class Monday through Friday. So, maybe I will get a chance to play a little more often.

So, I do have some exciting news!! I am going to create a new video for all of you! More details to follow!!

With each new season I feel different emotions, see new colors I associate with the solstice I am in that moment, and find new activities to keep me and my little family busy. There is just something refreshing about seeing new color paleetes and Stampin' Up! is ushering in a new season as well with their new Color Refresh!

I wasn't sure how I felt about some of the colors retiring that I use a lot such as More Mustard, Regal Rose, and Certainly Celery but after I saw the new colors together I was EXCITED! Change is good and sometimes we need to freshen things up just a little! The addition of Pool Party, Island Indigo, Calypso Coral, and the brand new Smoky Slate have left me inspired and excited to create something fun with them!
